SLANT System® Advanced Training
for Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher Certification
After successful completion of the Structured Literacy Foundations course, participants will be eligible to participate in Advanced Training through 24 additional hours of seminars. Topics for the seminars will include in-depth coverage of structured literacy techniques, written expression, spelling, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, morphology, progress monitoring, record keeping, and so much more.
Teachers will gain in-depth knowledge of all the language concepts, spelling rules, and letter/sound correspondences taught throughout all 7 Stages of the Slant System® Teaching Sequence. Seminars also afford participants the opportunity to ask questions about their specific students, their classroom settings, and to share and collaborate with their peers under the guidance of a master level trainer.
To qualify for Slant System® Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher Certification, each teacher must attend the entire Structured Literacy Foundations course and all 24 additional hours of Advanced Training seminars, successfully complete all quizzes and a final exam, and follow the Slant® Principles of Professional Conduct.
As an accredited training program through the International Dyslexia Association, teachers who successfully complete the Slant System® Structured Literacy Foundations Course and Advanced Training seminars will qualify for the Knowledge and Practice Examination of Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI) through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction leading to certification through CERI.

Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher Certification is valid for 1 year after successful completion of all of the above requirements. Renewing this certification requires 10 professional development hours per year in specific courses based on the science of reading.
